Power Man 2016 Olympics

On 23 November 2016, representatives of SC D1 RNC CIGRE provided expertise in evaluation of the students’ works submitted for the Power industry Olympic games named after A.F. Dyakov on the basis of the State Power University in Ivanovo.

The SC D1 RNC CIGRE was represented by:

• Vladimir Ustinov, Coordinator, Deputy Quality Director at Izolyator;
• Sergey Kassikhin, SC member, Chief Engineer of the special design bureau at Izolyator.

The International Students Olympics in power industry has been organized by the Russian National Committee of CIGRE with support from FGC UES PJSC on the basis of Ivanovsky State University since 2011.

The purpose of the event is to provide better quality in electrical engineering and power Magisters training indentifying talented youth and forming motivation for profession.

The assignments for participants were based on their power industry course offering 12 tasks split into two levels of complexity in:

• theoretical foundation of electrical engineering
• high-voltage technology
• relay protection and automation
• electrical shop of power plants and substations
• power systems and grids
• power supply

In 2016 over 100 best first year Magister students from leading Russian and foreign technical universities competed:

In the framework of the Olympics, meetings of RNC CIGRE representatives with the participants were held. Vladimir Ustinov, SC D1 Coordinator made a report “Executive Committee activities and SC D1 RNC CIGRE Materials and emerging test techniques work. Trends in development and application of insulating materials based on the 46^th CIGRE Session results”.
