Installation of First Batch of 220 kV Wall Bushings at Hoa Binh HPC
In May 2017, 220 kV wall bushings with RIP insulation from the first batch, delivered by Izolyator, were installed in Hoa Binh HPC in Vietnam.
The Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant — the Hoa Binh Hydropower Company (Hoa Binh HPC) — is the largest in Vietnam and entire South Eastern Asia comparable with Son La HPP. The power plant is located on the river Da in Hoa Binh province. The dam is 128 m (420 ft) high and 970 m long (3182 ft). The construction was financed and managed with the invitation of Russian investment and specialists. Electric power is produced by eight hydro turbines with 240 MW capacity. The total installed capacity is 1920 MW. Today, the power plant produces up to 8160 GWhr of power annually, which corresponds to approximately 27% of the country’s entire generation. The Hoa Binh Hydropower Company is owned by Vietnam Electricity state energy company.
The step by step delivery and installation were carried out in line with agreement between Hoa Binh and Izolyator, resulting from a large work of both partners on the power plant’s equipment technical condition and residual life evaluation, including obsolete OIP HV bushings, delivered by Izolyator plant in the past.
After that evaluation, Izolyator recommended power equipment modernization, including gradual OIP bushings replacement for a more advanced RIP technology.
Presently, there are 220 kV RIP bushings successfully operating on Hoa Binh transformer equipment. They were delivered by Izolyator in summer 2016.
Thus, the above mentioned and the next expected shipments are a practical result of Russia-Vietnam strategic cooperation with Izolyator plant’s and largest Vietnam’s power companies input.
