On 6 June 2017, Izolyator has turned 121!

The history of high-voltage bushings development in Russia is inseparably connected with Izolyator — a global leader in development and manufacture of high-voltage bushings, Russia’s sole company able to design, make and test alternate and direct current bushings for ultra-high voltage classes.

Izolyator plant was founded on 6 June 1896 in Vsehsviatskoe village on the outskirts of Moscow, and, in 1905, the products that it made won a gold medal at the Brussels International Exhibition.

The revolution nationalized the plant making it one of the leaders in GOELRO plan fulfillment for bushings and insulating materials production.

During the World War II Izolyator’s production facilities were fully used for the needs of defense. The plant was sending its products to the power stations in the east of the country as for reconstruction of power systems on the liberated territories, while continuing to fulfil orders for products sent to the front.

During the postwar years the power industry of the country rapidly developed, voltages grew higher — and the plant developed accordingly.

In the 1990s, Izolyator was capable to produce oil-filled bushings for transformers, reactors, oil switches, wall bushings for voltage classes 35–1150 kV, compound bushings SF6-Oil for switchgear ±400 and ±750 kV, 110, 220, 330 and 500 kV bushings with SF6 insulation also.

In 2002–2004, Izolyator created an original RIP-insulation technology and applied it in mass production. Before that time, RIP-insulated bushings were assembled with imported insulation cores.

Mass produced RIP-insulated high-voltage bushings are highly reliable and have a long operation life. Right now, Izolyator possesses unique equipment allowing for mass production of RIP bushings of 1150 kV AC and 1000 kV DC voltage classes.

In 2007, the company realized a large-scale transition project of Izolyator manufacturing facilities to the Istra region of the Moscow region.

Today, Izolyator is a modern highly technological manufacturer, having the most advanced equipment, capable to design, manufacture and test AC and DC HV bushings in the voltages range of 10–1150 kV. The company actively implements advanced technologies, designs and constantly expands its product range by offering new development, improving existing designs and modernization.

The company consists of the modern Izolyator manufacturing facility with 24 thnd square meters of production shops, SVN Service technical center, special design office and test center of high-voltage equipment made by Izolyator.

The manufacturing capacity allows for making of 12 000 high-voltage bushings annually. The company constantly expands high-voltage bushings range by introducing completely new designs and upgrading existing designs.

In its more than 120 years’ history the enterprise has produced more than 620 thnd HV bushings that are operating in the overwhelming majority of power facilities in Russia and the CIS countries as well as 30 more countries of the world.

The annals of the company boast more than 100 labor dynasties, many of those people working at the plant today. “Century-long traditions, state-of-the-art technologies” — these words became a motto for those, working at the plant, rightly believed a global leader in development and production of high-voltage bushings.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Izolyator Alexander Slavinsky says:

“All Izolyator achievements were only possible thanks to a well-coordinated work of our highly professional team and the all-round support of our partners. We would like to thank our partners for their cooperation and support in the development programs of the Russian and world power markets. On our side, we will continue to make every effort in order to prove your trust by timely fulfilling our obligations in high-voltage bushings production and technical support of our customers”.
