The XV Conference “Methods and means of condition control of high-voltage equipment insulation”

On 14–16 February 2018, representatives of study committee D1 of the Russian National Committee of CIGRE took part in the XV annual conference “Methods and means of condition control of high-voltage equipment insulation”, organized by Dimrus in Perm.

Dimrus Ltd develops, manufactures and implements a variety of modern diagnostic equipment, namely systems of stationary control. The company operates in more than 45 countries. Monitoring systems for main equipment control of power companies are also made by the company. All monitoring systems and portable devices are coming with expert diagnostic software. The information, obtained with Dimrus expert systems, represents ready recommendations on operation, maintenance and repair of high-voltage equipment.

The key topic of the conference is Frequency-based methods of control of moisture content in solid insulation, scanning for deformation of transformer windings”.

The focus of the scientific part was given to application of SFRA (Sweep frequency response analysis) method for identification of deformations and defects in transformers.

The conference participants introduced 29 reports on various issues related to the frequency-based methods of moisture content control in solid insulation. The most attention was given to the reports detailing various practical aspects of diagnostic methods application and received data.

• V. K. Kozlov (Kazan State Power Engineering University, co-speaker A. Kh. Sabitov) “The method and the device of measuring degree of paper insulation polymerization”;
• V. A. Rusov, PhD (Dimrus Ltd) “New designs of Dimrus”;
• I. V. Davidenko, PhD (Ural Federal University, co-speaker M. N. Vladimirova, Tyumenenergo JSC) “On development of technical guidelines for diagnostics of defects in oil-filled power equipment based on results of dissolved gases analysis”.

The members of SC D1 RNC CIGRE also actively engaged in discussions of reports.

At the conference, Vladimir Ustinov, SC D1 RNC CIGRE coordinator and Deputy Quality Director at Izolyator worked at the sitting of the Council on Power Equipment Diagnostics.

On 16 February 2018, the conference agenda included trainings and practical exercises on:

• ultrasound defectoscopy;
• monitoring and diagnostics of transformers;
• online diagnostics of cable lines and connecting sleeves;
• measuring of partial discharges in insulation;
• cable lines and 6-35 kV switchgear monitoring;
• vibration diagnostics of power equipment.

During the conference, the participants saw an exhibition of equipment by Incab plant and Dimrus and visited their manufacturing and office facilities.

Over 260 specialists from Russia, CIS and non-CIS countries took part in the conference from such places as Perm, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Germany and Sweden.
