Conference of Russian National Committee of CIGRE to summarize the results of the CIGRE Session 2022

On 27 April 2023 the CIGRE National Study Committee D1 ‘Materials and Emerging Test Techniques’, operating on the basis of the Izolyator Production Complex, took part in the Closing Conference of the Russian National Committee of CIGRE following the results of the CIGRE Session 2022 in Paris.

Russian National Committee of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (RNC CIGRE) as a legal entity was established in 2003. At present the Committee counts over 60 collective and over 460 individual members. RNC CIGRE aims to represent the national interests at CIGRE and to assist in exchanging technical knowledge, experience and feedback in various fields of CIGRE activity for all its members. The most important objective of the committee is attraction of the best Russian power industry companies to scientific and technical cooperation as research base organizations for CIGRE National Study Committees.

The CIGRE National Study Committee D1 ‘Materials and Emerging Test Techniques’ (CIGRE NSC D1) was represented at the conference by the Head of CIGRE NSC D1, CIGRE Study Committee D1 Regular Member, the Head of the Izolyator Group Dr. Alexander Slavinsky and Coordinator of CIGRE NSC D1, Director of Moscow Branch of Izolyator Plant Vladimir Ustinov.

According to the decision of the Technical Committee of RNC CIGRE, the subject area of CIGRE NSC D1 consists of new and existing materials and technologies for the electric power complex, technologies for diagnosing materials in the power grid complex, and technologies for testing electrical materials.

The closing conference of the Russian National Committee of CIGRE following the results of the CIGRE Session 2022 was held at the head office of R&D Center at Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System in Moscow.

It was attended by the heads of the RNC CIGRE’s member organizations and the heads of study committees.

Conference Audience

The event was held by Chairman of the Russian National Committee of CIGRE, First Deputy CEO Rosseti PJSC Andrey Murov, who in his speech emphasized that without taking into account international experience it is impossible to assess the challenges facing the industry and take strategically correct decisions, and also expressed confidence that cooperation in within the framework of CIGRE will continue and will contribute to the development of the electric power industry.

During the conference, industry specialists considered the key topics of the CIGRE Session 2022 — the challenges of the energy transition, new requirements for equipment, changing methods of planning and designing power systems. The active participation of Russian specialists in the discussion of industry trends was observed.

At the end of the plenary session of the conference an awards ceremony was held for the most active corporate and individual members of RNC CIGRE, as well as national study committees.

According to the activity rating’s key performance indicators in the RNC CIGRE Individual members category, the Head of CIGRE NSC D1 Alexander Slavinsky was awarded a diploma.

About 3,700 specialists from 91 countries took part in the work of the CIGRE Session 2022.

The Russian delegation included 90 specialists, 44 reports were presented in 14 technical areas and 6 reports of the Youth Section of the RNC CIGRE.

The CIGRE National Study Committee D1 at the CIGRE Session 2022 was represented by Alexander Slavinsky and a Member of the CIGRE National Study Committee D1, CIGRE Distinguished Member, R&D Support Director of the Inspection of сontrol over technical condition of оbjects of еlectric еnergy industry Dr. Leonid Daryan.

Five Russian reports were presented at the poster session on the subjects of CIGRE Study Committee D1.

The CIGRE National Study Committee D1 prepared a review of the reports of the CIGRE Session 2022, and an article was also prepared for publication in the Energetik (Power & Electrical engineering) Journal and its appendix — Energy Abroad.
