Visit to Zhigulevsk GES

On 21 May 2015, Oleg Bakulin, Partner Relations Director, Head of Sales Department at Izolyator visited Zhigulevsk GES of RusHydro Plc in the city of Zhigulevsk in Samara Region.

 

Zhigulevsk GES is a branch of the Public Limited Company RusHydro. Zhigulevsk GES is one of the largest hydraulic stations by capacity and power generation in the world and the first major of the domestic power industry historically. It is the sixth step and the second by capacity GES of Volga-Kama cascade. The station generates more than 10 bln kW/hr of inexpensive electric power annually with subsequent transmission to the Unified Power Grid of Russia. The station’s facilities include a 700 m long hydroelectric power station of combined type, 633.3 meters long retentive construction, spillway dam, earth-fill dam, 59 m mud outlet, two step double lock with an inter lock pool, berthing facilities, open switchgear of 500, 220 and 110 kV class.

Vladimir Khurtin, Chief Engineer of Zhigulevsk GES received Izolyator representative.

Izolyator’s HV bushings operation experience was discussed at the meeting. The parties also talked about modernization plans of power equipment at Zhigulevsk GES.
