Participation in the defense of a doctoral dissertation at Kazan State Power Engineering University
On 1 April 2022, the Head of the Izolyator Group Alexander Slavinsky took part in the defense of a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences, which was held at a meeting of the Dissertation Council of Kazan State Power Engineering University.
Kazan State Power Engineering University (KSPEU) is one of three specialized energy universities in the country (the other two are the National Research University ‘Moscow Power Engineering Institute’ and Ivanovo State Power Engineering University named after V. I. Lenin) and occupies one of the leading places in the region in terms of education, technical equipment and conditions for scientific work and educational process. The university trains specialists for the energy systems of the Volga region, as well as for countries near and far abroad. Students do internships at energy enterprises in the city of Kazan, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Volga region. In terms of the qualifications of the teaching staff, KSPEU occupies one of the leading places among all technical universities in Russia.

Applicant — Associate Professor of the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering of Institute of Electricity and Electronics of KSPEU, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Alexander Turanov, who submitted his dissertation ‘New methods for diagnosing and studying the mechanisms of degradation of transformer oils’ for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences in the specialty ‘Methods and devices for monitoring and diagnosing materials, products, substances and the natural environment’.
One of the official opponents of the dissertation council of KSPEU was the CEO of Zavod Izolyator, Head of CIGRE National Study Committee D1, Head of the Department of Physics and Technologies of Electrical Materials and Components of the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Electrification of the National Research University ‘Moscow Power Engineering Institute’ Doctor, Professor Alexander Slavinsky.

The dissertation defense was held in the form of a scientific discussion, with the scrutiny and adherence to principles that the scientific ethics requires.

The defense participants came to the conclusion that the presented work contains new scientifically based technical solutions, the implementation of which will make a significant contribution to the development of the country.
Based on the results of the defense, the dissertation council made a positive decision to award Alexander Turanov the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences.
