Experts at a round table discussed current development trends in the Russian electric power industry

On April 10, 2025, the head of Izolyator Group Alexander Slavinsky, took part in the round table “Safe operation and efficient development of the electric power industry of Russia”, which was held as part of the congress program of the XIII Russian International Energy Forum in St. Petersburg.

Russian International Energy Forum (RIEF) is the annual convention and exhibition event for the specialists of the fuel and energy sector, the largest international occasion in Russia and CIS countries. The key objective of the project is establishing a platform for the industrial corporations, state authorities and the scientific community to have a dialogue at. The concept of the forum includes a congress, business and exhibition program. Power & Electrical Engineering International Exhibition is one of the best platforms in Russia to demonstrate the latest equipment and technologies of power and electrical industries, to launch new projects, to enter the Russian market and find new partners. Participants of the Forum are top managers of leading energy companies, representatives of federal and regional authorities, experts, academicians, heads of industry-specific universities and research institutes.

The round table was chaired by the Rector of National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” (MPEI), President of Scientific and Technical Council of the Unified Energy System (STC UES) Nikolay Rogalev.

Rectors and vice-rectors of leading industry universities, employees and specialists of research and design organizations, heads of Russian electric grid and energy companies, developers and manufacturers of electrical equipment took part in the discussion.

During the event, the participants discussed a wide range of topical issues, including the development of new technologies, modernization of thermal energy, prospects for nuclear energy and distributed generation. Particular attention was paid to cybersecurity, import substitution, as well as regulatory and technical documentation.

An important topic of the round table was the issue of training personnel for the energy and related industries. Experts discussed updating educational programs and strengthening the interaction of universities and industry for successful development in all the above-mentioned areas.

Discussion of current directions of development of electric power industry in Russia

The diverse professional experience of the event participants contributed to a constructive exchange of opinions and the development of joint solutions on key issues.

The round table became an important platform for exchanging experiences and developing strategies that will help Russia cope with modern challenges in the energy sector.

The participants of the event expressed confidence that joint efforts will not only maintain stability in the energy sector, but also ensure its further development in the context of global changes.

The XIII Russian International Energy Forum, held with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and the Government of St. Petersburg, brought together 8,000 participants from 11 countries, including China, Iran, India, Belarus, the Republic of Korea and Kazakhstan.

As part of the exhibition part of the forum, 140 companies presented their developments and services, 490 delegates took part in the congress program. More than 700 business meetings took place in the Business Contact Center.
