A new step in the development of Russian-Thai cooperation in the field of energy

On July 22–24, 2025, a joint delegation of the heads of Izolyator Group, ERSO (Energy Solutions) Electrical Engineering Holding and ERSO Transformer Solutions visited the head office and power plants of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) is a state-owned enterprise under the supervision of Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Finance. The principal mission of EGAT is electricity generation, electricity acquisition, and electricity sales to the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, the Provincial Electricity Authority, a number of direct customers by law, and neighboring countries. EGAT transmits electricity generated by its own power plants and electricity purchased from private power producers through its own grid network covering all parts of the country. EGAT’s transmission lines comprise different voltages ranging from 500 kV, 230 kV, 132 kV, 115 kV, and 69 kV. EGAT's head office is located in Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi.

A meeting was held with the heads and specialists of technical departments at the EGAT head office, a visit and meetings with the management of the North Bangkok Power Plant, Bang Pakong Power Plant and Mae Moh Power Plant.

 At the meetings, Russian enterprises presented their products and the full range of services offered.

Dmitriy Orekhov, Commercial Director for Exports and Equipment Manufacturers of Izolyator Group, spoke about the areas of activity of each of the group's divisions, the range and design of high-voltage bushings and cable fittings produced, and a range of related services from individual design to testing and post-warranty service of manufactured electrical equipment.

The report by ERSO representatives was devoted to new developments in power transformers and reactors for voltages of 550–800 kV.

During the visit to EGAT power plants, the Russian delegation not only held meetings with management, but also became familiar with their design and technological features and installed power equipment.

North Bangkok Power Plant (Nonthaburi Province) is a combined cycle power plant with a contracted generating capacity of 1,498 MW comprising.

It is the first modern combined cycle power plant of Thailand.

Bang Pakong Power Plant (Chachoengsao Province) consists of thermal power plant and combined cycle power plant with contractual generating capacity of 3,248 MW.

Bang Pakong is the first power plant using natural gas from the Gulf of Thailand for electricity generation.

Mae Moh Power Plant (Lampang Province) is a thermal power plant has a total contracted generating capacity of 2,220 MW.

It is the only lignite power plant in the EGAT.
